FIELD: chemical technology, catalysts. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to synthesis of higher saturated alcohols by fatty acids and their esters hydrogenation and to technology of copper-chrome catalysts producing from the depleted catalyst slime after hydrogenation process. The regenerated catalyst can be used at the stage of fatty acids and their esters hydrogenation during synthesis of higher saturated alcohols being both separately and in mixture with the recent catalyst. Method involves treatment of catalyst with oxygen-containing gas at increased temperature. Before treatment alcohols were distilled off from the slime by product heating up to 300-400 C under pressure 5-20 mm mercury column (665-2660 Pa) or in the flow of overheated steam under pressure 50-300 mm mercury column (6650-3990 Pa) without mechanical stirring. Formed catalyst mass is treated with oxygen-containing gas at 350-450 C up to oxygen absorption ceasing followed by its cooling and grinding up to particle size of the recent catalyst. EFFECT: improved method of catalyst regeneration.
