FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves exposing a patient to extremely high frequency radiation signal from some distance. The signal is selected from reflected signal of components corresponding to arterial pulse and breathing waves. Irradiation is carried out with signal in frequency range of 30-100 Hz according to data describing arterial pulse and breathing waves, statistical distribution and cardiointerval power spectrum are determined. Parameters of statistical distribution and spectrum, cardiointerval power and breathing spectrum are used to make conclusions concerning psychophysiological state of a patient. The device has receiving-transmitting antenna, attenuator unit, transmitting generator unit, recording and processing unit having a unit for detecting quadrature components of reflected signal designed as two-channel circuit and connected with its inputs to directed branching unit and circulation unit and with its outputs to inputs of filtration unit, signal phase selection unit connected with its outputs and logical signal analysis unit connected with its output and having breathing component selection unit and pulse component selection unit connected in series to its input. Cardiointerval selection unit is connected to its output and through its output to cardiointerval spectrum selection unit cardiointerval histogram selection unit.
