FIELD: production of linear polymers. SUBSTANCE: method involves polymerization of at least conjugated diene with probably monoalkylene aromatic compound which takes place in the presence of organic compound of alkali metal (as initiator) and at least hydrocarbon diluent. Said process is followed by contact of thus prepared polymer chains with compound having common formula RP(O)_n(OR¹)₂. In said formula R is phenyl group probably substituted by lower alkyl, lower alkoxyl or by atom of halogen; R₁ is lower alkyl group, phenyl group probably substituted by lower alkyl, lower alkoxyl or by atom of halogen, n=0 or 1. After said contacting is prepared compound having formula A-P(R₁)(O)_n-A where A is polymer chain. Quantity of said phosphorous-containing compound is 0.3-0.7 moles per 1 mole of initiator, method is carried out at (-20)-150 C.
