FIELD: protective gear for secondary power supplies. SUBSTANCE: method for protecting regulating secondary power supply built around independently excited half-bridge inverter controlled by pulse-width modulator involves shaping signal proportional to load current and other signal proportional to input current of secondary power supply, comparing these signals with respective setting value, and reducing length of output pulses of pulse-width modulator and their repetition rate in case one or both these signals exceed setting value; pulse-width modulator and its control components are supplied with voltage equal to peak value of DC output voltage of secondary power supply; power switches of half-bridge inverter are changed over to low-duty-factor mode at the moment of their joint cut-off. EFFECT: improved reliability of overcurrent protection of power supply and its loads. 5 dwg
