FIELD: metallurgy, production of nickel materials of cellular structure with porosity up to 98% applicable in manufacture of filters, catalysts, etc. SUBSTANCE: method of production of porous cellular nickel material includes formation of conducting layer on porous organic base, electrolytic deposition of nickel coating on conducting layer and heat treatment. Formation of conducting layer is carried out, first, in solution containing compounds of alkali metal (sodium or potassium) with sulfur and pH 10-10.5 and nonsulfide sulfur-polysulfide sulfur ratio of 1:(3-4), and then, in copper-containing solution with maintenance of redox potential of solution within minus 40 to minus 100 mV by platinum electrode relative to silver-chloride comparison electrode by supplying of reducing agent. Such treatment conditions ensure obtaining of conducting layer preserving its properties in the process of electrochemical deposition to exclude defects in finished products. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 1 tbl
