DEVICE FOR TREATING WOODEN SLEEPERS Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: construction and repair of railway tracks. SUBSTANCE: device has two units of vertical drilling heads 2 mounted on frame 1 relative to its longitudinal axis, horizontally located positioning power cylinders 3, and mounted on frame base are centering mechanism 4 and 5 for feeding sleepers to working zone of drilling head units. Device is provided with additional rectangular frame 6 mounted parallel to longitudinal side of aforesaid frame and connected to it by span pieces which carry two holders 7 mounted vertically and located symmetrically relative to its lateral axis. Holders 7 contain cases 8 with liners. Each holder has an opening for delivery of liners and a horizontal beam having slots at its end to fasten mechanism for delivery of single liners to working zone of drilling heads. Mounted on frame 1 in space between drilling heads 2 of each unit on vertically located guide members for possible reciprocating motion relative to guide members is cross member 24 which carries mechanism for forming wire clamps and fixing liners on sleeper by these clamps.
