FIELD: industrial organic syntheses. SUBSTANCE: tert-butanol is produced by interaction of isobulylene-containing hydrocarbon mixture with water in an upright apparatus with acid catalyst at 60-130 C. hydrocarbons are fed into lower section of apparatus filled with aqueous solution containing 2 to 20% tert-butanol. Aqueous and hydrocarbon phases are separated in upper section of apparatus, and additionally formed alcohol is withdrawn from above with hydrocarbon stream followed by separation of alcohol from nonreacted hydrocarbons. Water is suppled into apparatus in amount refilling its consumption. Possible also is withdrawal of aqueous solution from top part of apparatus with recycling it into bottom part of apparatus when cooled. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of process. 2 cl, 1 dwg
