FIELD: petrochemical industry. SUBSTANCE: present invention describes method of preparing alkyl tert-alkyl ethers and mixtures thereof with hydrocarbons by contacting alcohols and tertiary olefin containing hydrocarbon mixture with heterogeneous acid catalysts in direct-flow reaction zones at 30-100 C and subsequently rectifying the reaction products. Hydrocarbon mixture and alcohol(s) are fed in strict proportions into the first reaction zone. In the last direct-flow reaction zone, temperature is maintained by 20-50 C, preferably 30-40 C, lower then that in the first direct-flow reaction zone. In the first reaction zone, temperature difference at reaction inlet and outlet is maintained at not higher than 25 C, preferably not higher than 15 C. Alcohol(s) is (are) fed as recited in the claims of the present invention. Alkyl tert-alkyl ethers or mixture thereof with hydrocarbons are withdrawn from the bottom of rectification column and preferably lighter hydrocarbons are withdrawn from the top of rectification column.
