FIELD: rocketry; solid-propellant engines mounted on shells launched from artillery gun barrels. SUBSTANCE: solid-propellant rocket engine has cylindrical housing 1 fastened with nozzle cover 2, solid propellant charge 4 and thermal protective coat made in form of ferrule 5 secured with housing 1. Ferrule 5 overlaps joint 6 between housing 1 and cover 2 where circular seal 7 is located. It is provided with additional thermal protective coat made in form of disk 8 with central hole which is fastened with nozzle cover 2. Ferrule 5 is provided with bead 10 overlapping this joint and located between end surfaces 11 and 12 of disk 8 at circular clearance 13 relative to lateral surface 14 of disk 8; clearance 13 is filled with sealant 15. Circular groove 16 is provided in nozzle cover 2 between seal 7 and bead 10. Outer diameter of disk 8 is equal to 0.85-0.97 of outer diameter 17 of cover 2 in section 3 of its joint 6 with housing 1.
