FIELD: gas purification. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to removing sulfur dioxide from gases at lead smelteries when reprocessing lead accumulator batteries. Lead dioxide extracted from lead acid accumulator scrap is utilized as sulfur dioxide absorber when treating low-sulfur industrial gases. Obtained lead sulfate may be reprocessed to produce lead metal. EFFECT: improved environment condition and reutilized lead material.
