METHOD TO REVEAL KNOCKING IN INTEGRAL COMBUSTION ENGINE WITH SPARK IGNITION Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

Abstract RU 2078323 C1

FIELD: mechanical engineering; testing of internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: with engine operating at preset speed vibration signals are recorded by means of sensor at preset time interval within working cycle, for instance, vibrations of cylinder block walls. These signals are filtered and actual value of vibration signal parameter is found which is compared with reference value, and basing on the result obtained conclusion is made on whether knocking is present or there is no knocking in internal combustion engine. Used as vibration signal parameter is its mean power for preset time interval within working cycle. Reference value is formed as sum of values characterizing current minimum value of vibration signal mean power and value of dispersion of vibration signal mean power preliminarily determined with engine operating at above-indicated speed at no knocking. Reference value is compared with actual value of vibration signal mean power within working cycle. EFFECT: improved reliability of checking. 7 dwg
