FIELD: pressing of ingots composed of billets, inserted one within the other, with one billet made from less rigid material. SUBSTANCE: method involves assembling ingot; fixing billets one with respect to the other; heating; mounting on needle with following pressing through conical die by placing ingot into container and applying axial force to ingot end. Prior to assembling, underlayer of less hard material is applied by fusion to inner surface of billet made from more hard material. To do that, rod having length lesser than that of billet is inserted into opening of billet. Disk made from less hard material is secured to rod end for depth, equal to billet and rod length difference. Disk has diameter slightly different from that of opening. Axial compression force is applied to disk end to cause plastic deformation of disk and local expansion of billet so that conical contact surface is formed. Rod is removed and disk is moved relative to billet to provide for fusion of less hard material on contact surface. Axial motion of deformed disk is effectuated simultaneously with rotation of billet made from harder material. Axial compression of disk is conducted more than once.
