METHOD OF PROCESSING PHENOL TAR Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

Abstract RU 2079479 C1

FIELD: disposal of wastes in chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of phenol and acetone by cumene method and may be used when processing high-boiling waste from this process. Thermal degradation of phenol tar is proposed to be conducted in a column-type reactor at 200-360 C and pressure 0.1-5 atm taking off phenol, cumene, α-methylstyrene, and acetophenone and continuously withdrawing still product. Process is conducted in presence of 0.1-1% phosphoric acid preliminarily heated to 50-180 C. To further increase summary yield of desired products, to initial tar, 10-90% of still residue from distillation of bisphenol A resulting from condensation of phenol with acetone is added. EFFECT: increased yield of desired products. 2 cl, 4 tbl
