FIELD: industrial organic syntheses. SUBSTANCE: initial rectification bottoms, containing phenol, acetophenone, cumylphenol, alpha-methylstyrene dimers, and high-boiling residue, are fed into first distillation column to isolate phenol. Concentrated bottoms from the first column with considerably reduced phenol content are transferred into second distillation column to strip flow enriched with compounds boiling between boiling temperatures of phenol and residue, in particular, cumylphenol, which flow is tapped from the point located below supply point and at least partly is returned into the first column in the point above supply point. Top fraction from the first column containing at least 95% phenol and that from the second column containing at least 70% acetophenone are subjected to refractionation to isolate phenol and acetophenone.
