PASSENGER CAR ENTRANCE FOOT STEP Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: railway transport; passenger cars with retractable foot steps. SUBSTANCE: foot step has vestibule apron resting on side shields of box in which fixed foot steps are secured, movable foot step mounted for turning in vertical plane and connected by crank levers engaging with fixed foot step to horizontal shaft of drive. Drive has tie-rod hinge-connected by one end with vestibule apron and by other end, with arm of horizontal shaft fitted in end supports of shields. Foot step has hinged down step suspended on curved levers hinge- connected with side shields. Step is installed for turning between curved levers and is provided with rollers coaxially arranged and secured on projecting brackets. Each roller engages with outer side of curved lever of hinged down step which rests in travelling position against fixed step with its flat portion. Side shield has stop to fix curved lever and it is connected with lever by means of spring-loaded handle. EFFECT: improved convenience of getting in and out of rail car if train stops at places where there is no boarding platforms. 2 cl, 2 dwg
