PASSENGER CAR ENTRANCE STEP Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: railway transport; passenger cars; retractable step. SUBSTANCE: step has turnable lever drive, vestibule apron locked in final positions, side shields, fixed steps, retractable step secured on side shields by means of shaft and elbow suspensions. Retractable step shaft is coupled with apron by above indicated lever drive and is installed for engagement with fixed step through suspensions. Hinge-down step is secured on side shields by means of additional shaft and additional suspensions. Gripping device couples mechanically the extensible step and hinge-down step at closing and locks hinge-down step in operating and travelling positions. Gripping device has drive lever and cam secured on shaft and driven lever with stop also secured on above-indicated additional shaft. Drive lever is installed for engagement with driven lever through catching projection made on drive lever. Turnable latch is installed on side shield between shafts for locking driven lever with stop in step open position by means of end of one of latch arms and for releasing the driven lever with stop when apron is lowered at engagement of cam with working surface of other arm of latch.
