ENVIRONMENTALLY APPROPRIATE WOOD-FILLED PLASTIC AND METHOD OF PREPARATION THEREOF Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: manufacture of structural composite materials. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to formulations and technologies of high-filled composite materials and articles based on disperse wood-vegetable fillers and thermoplastic fillers and may be utilized in furniture, building, mechanical engineering, and other industries. Invention consists in that wood-filled plastic including thermoplastic polymer binder, inorganic additive, and conventional goal additives has, as filler, preliminarily triboactivated disperse wood-vegetable filler with definite characteristic parameter values: residual specific charge 5•10^-7-5•10^-5 coulomb/kg and its relaxation time 0.05- 1 kg, and , as inorganic additive, disperse inorganic material with basic surface properties and particle size not larger than 20 mcm with following component contents, wt.-%: filler, 50-92; inorganic additive, 0.1-10; conventional additives, 0.3-8; and polymer binder, the balance. Additionally, 0.1-40 wt % of functional filler may be entered. Method of preparation includes drying; determining characteristic parameters: concentration of acidic and basic sites on surface of filler and inorganic additive, value, polarity, and time of relaxation of residual specific charge of filler; triboactivating electric state of filler particles during 2-1200 s at 10-220 C with activation intensity sufficient to reach above-indicated parameters; mixing all components of the plastic, which begins after completion of triboactivation during period of time not exceeding double value of relaxation time of residual specific charge of filler; and thermal shaping. EFFECT: improved quality.
