FIELD: ranging, coherent-pulse airborne radar systems working with average frequency of pulse repetition under mode of search. SUBSTANCE: proposed method of ranging is based on radiation of signals with two frequencies of pulse repetition and on determination of time positions of pulses reflected from target on each repetition frequency. If pulses reflected from target and ground do not coincide on first frequency position of target pulse is measured in interpulse interval of reflections from ground with reference to trailing edge of pulse. Sequence of pulses with second repetition frequency chosen in definite way is formed for which time position of pulse relative to nearest edge of pulses of reflections from ground is measured, obtained time positions of pulses of target are compared and choice of first and second repetition frequencies is corrected by specified relations. EFFECT: enhanced functional reliability of method.
