FIELD: shipbuilding. SUBSTANCE: automatic control system has one control computer and group of autonomous computers acting on group of drives of steering surfaces and two groups of change-over elements. Number of autonomous computers is equal to number of drives of steering surfaces and number of change-over elements in each of two groups. Information of condition of ship is read off respective sensors common for central and autonomous computers. If system is serviceable, law of control of each drive of steering surface is formed of respective autonomous computer and is corrected by additional members formed on central computer. In case of failure of central computer, it is disconnected by change-over element of second group. In case of failure of one (or several) autonomous computer, it is disconnected by respective change-over element of first group, after which control of failed autonomous computer is effected from central computer. At simultaneous failure of central computer and one (or several) autonomous computer, respective steering surface is centered and control of ship is effected from serviceable autonomous computers with the aid of remaining steering surfaces.
