FIELD: electric engineering, in particular, diagnostics and monitoring of electric machines. SUBSTANCE: method involves generation of ring flow with low inductance and measuring its distortion by means of scanning whole surface of core boring using electromagnetic inductance detector. This involves measuring phase shift between voltage in measuring detector and voltage which is induced in reference detector by magnetic flow. Latter reference detector is located on core part without flaws. Phase shift provides information about presence of short circuit between sheets. Corresponding device has magnetization winding, device which controls current in winding, detectors each of which is designed as coil which is coiled on thin sheet core which is made from ferromagnetic material with high magnetic permeability. Outputs of detectors are connected to independent inputs of phase shift meter. EFFECT: increased sensitivity of method, non-ambiguous interpretation and increased validity of results. 2 cl, 5 dwg
