FIELD: oil producing industry, in particular, methods of control of oil pool development, for instance, for determination of direction and rate of horizontal flow of oil in single-formation pool for estimation of production rate of separate formation in wells which are exposed by one filter of several formations. SUBSTANCE: method includes taking oil samples from different points of formation in certain time intervals and determination of their optical density. Optical density of sample is determined with various wave length. Spectral coefficients are calculated and their variation is used for estimation of state of development of oil pool.
