FIELD: oil production industry. SUBSTANCE: this relates to shut-off devices used in producing oil by suction rod pumps. Shut-off valve is in the form of cylindrical body with axial bore for movable polished pump rod. Valve seat is provided with side pocket which accommodates valve cage and ball valve which is vertically movable under action of spring. In case of breakage of polished pump rod, ball valve under action of spring is displaced to upper position and occupies valve seat, thus closing axial bore in valve body and ensuring reliable sealing of well head.
