CUT-OFF VENT VALVE Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: manufacture of fittings; vented reservoirs and pipe lines used for low-density liquids. SUBSTANCE: valve has body where float made in the form of sleeve with perforated bottom is arranged; bottom is provided with plate made from porous material nonwetted with liquid. Valve is also provided with shut-off member. Seat is fitted on outlet branch pipe. In filling the reservoir with liquid, vapor-and-gas mixture is forced out of valve and is freely evacuated into atmosphere through pores in plate. When level of liquid reaches the plate, it fills its pores; as a result, hydraulic resistance rises abruptly forming pressure differential irrespective of density of liquid due to which float starts rising and continuous rising till shut-off member comes to seat closing the outlet branch pipe.
