FIELD: polymer materials. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to processing polytetrafluoroethylene and may find use for manufacturing heat resistant conductors with fluoroplastic insulation in cable industry. In a method of applying fluoroplastic insulation on current-conducting cores involving pressing from homogeneous paste prepared for specified number of products, a single raw stock pellet is pressed. When extruding, several products are extruded simultaneously introducing into extrusion zone specified number of cores. Heat treatment operation is conducted simultaneously for all current-conducting cores produced in one extrusion operation. In apparatus for applying fluoroplastic insulation, feed and take-up reels are multistation ones. Extrusion head is compounded and includes fixed die with replaceable insertions and distributor. Insertions are made with sized openings. Distributor constitutes a crossbar with hollow needles and draw bars. Distributor incorporates perforated friction bushing for cores, and hollow needles have turn sleeves. EFFECT: improved procedure. 3 cl, 6 dwg
