FIELD: mining; phosphorus production. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to thermal treatment of phosphate minerals before electrothermal conversion thereof into yellow phosphorus. Method involves agglomeration of raw material in rotary calciners for 3-8 h to liquid phase content 12-25% based on weight of batch. When acidity module of batch is 0.2-0.4, agglomeration is conducted during 3-6 h, and when 0.4-0.6, for 6-8 h. Amount of liquid phase is controlled by varying content of 0.1-0-mm fraction of disintegrated return product in the range 3 to 15% and its dispersity. Granulometric composition of obtained product is controlled by adding 10-0-mm fraction of non-disintegrated return product in amount 3-15%. As principal raw material, phosphate materials, 0.5-0-mm fraction are used, including those materials with 40-60% of fractions less than 0.074 mm containing 21-38% phosphorus pentoxide.
