FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: process for treating spent vanadium catalysts employed in sulfate production comprises neutralization of the initial product, alkaline leaching and filtration to remove vanadium solution followed by precipitation of vanadium therefrom. After neutralization the pulp is filtered, alkaline leaching of the separated solid residue is carried out at potassium to sodium and/or ammonium to silicon of 0.2-0.5:1 when concentration of free hydroxyl ions reaches 0.1-0.2 g- ion/l. EFFECT: more efficient treatment process.
