FIELD: performing operations.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to extraction of vanadium from production wastes, namely, from spent vanadium catalysts (SVC) discharged from contact devices of sulphuric acid production. Method involves addition of hydrofluorosilicic acid to a sample of initial raw material from SVC in amount of 100% to 110% of stoichiometric amounts for ions of alkali metals included in the SVC composition. At the same time content of sulphuric acid in formed pulp is ensured, which corresponds to pH values of not more than 0.8, then sulphite salt is added in portions until breakthrough of sulphur dioxide occurs. Further, a productive solution containing vanadium in the form of vanadyl is obtained by filtration. Vanadium is extracted from the productive solution, preferably in the form of vanadyl hydroxide.
EFFECT: high degree of extraction of vanadium from SVC, reduced content of impurities in the obtained product, simple method of extracting vanadium, high energy efficiency and high safety.
