FIELD: metallurgy, more particularly tool steels used for hot deformation of non- ferrous metals and alloys. SUBSTANCE: claimed steel comprises (wt%): 0.27-0.34 carbon; 2.80-3.50 chromium; 1.70-2.20 molybdenum; 0.40-0.60 vanadium; 0.10-0.20 niobium; 0.10-0.40 silicon; 0.20-0.50 magnesium, and the iron balance, the total content of carbide-forming elements being 5.0-6.5. EFFECT: improved properties of tool steel.
