FIELD: special electrometallurgy. SUBSTANCE: invention concerns electroslag remelting of steels and alloys and focuses on manufacturing electrodes which are remelted into ingot. Construction is characterized with strong weld seam between ingot and inventory head with variable electrical conductivity across the cross-section from peripheral to central part of seam - this increases yield of metal produce caused by improved quality of head part of fused up electrical slag ingot. According to invention, conductivity of peripheral part of weld seam is by 3-5 orders of magnitude lower than that of inventory head metal. Seam constitutes a composite layer, peripheral part of which is made of slag-titanium mix obtained from a liquid flux with 2-10% of iron-free thermite and is shaped as a ring with outer diameter equal to that of head and with height and thickness in the range 0.02-0.10 diameter of inventory head fused up to ingot, whereas inner part of seam consists of crystallized metal of ingot and inventory head. EFFECT: improved quality of metal produce. 2 tbl
