FIELD: chemical treatment of metals, particularly, chemical polishing of stainless steel surfaces. SUBSTANCE: solution for chemical polishing of stainless steel surfaces comprises 0.5-5.0 moles hydrochloric acid; 0.005-1.0 mole nitric acid; 0.005-1.0 mole phosphoric acid; 0.001-5.0 g hydroxybenzoic acid; 0.001-1.0 g primary amine containing more than 10 carbon atom and up to 1 l water. The primary amine contains 11-20 carbon atoms, preferably 12-18 carbon atoms. Solution further comprises as mole/l chloric acid or soluble salts thereof as well as 0.5 g/l additive capelle of decomposing nitric acid selected from urea and derivatives thereof. The claimed method of chemical polishing of stainless steel surfaces comprises treating surfaces with said solutions at 20-65 C. EFFECT: more efficient method. 3 cl
