FIELD: analytical chemistry; testing for contamination of soils with toxicant - 1-methyl-1,2-dicyclopropylcyclopro- pane. SUBSTANCE: method includes treatment of analyzed sample with ethyl alcohol or water-alcohol mixture with mass ratio of 1: (2.0-3.0). Obtained mixture is thoroughly agitated and held still for 15-20 min. Then, mixture is heated up to 98-100 C with air bubbling at rate of 0.1-0.2 l/min through successively installed vessels with analyzed sample and concentrated sulfuric acid. Added to concentrated sulfuric acid is solution of para-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde in aqueous solution of hydrochloric acid and ethyl alcohol. Optical density of colored solution is measured and its value serves to find the content of 1-methyl-1,2- dicyclopropylcyclopropane in soil. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 2 tbl
