FIELD: gas treatment. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of removing carbon dioxide from process gas in production of ammonia from natural gas and can be applied at ammonia production plants using solutions of ethanolamines as absorbents. Invention allows reducing concentration of tar in monoethanolamine absorption solution, decreasing its corrosive activity by introducing 0.5-1.0 wt % potassium nitrite solution into poor or saturated monoethanolamine solution when maintaining potassium nitrite concentration in solution within the range of 0.5 to 1.0 g/l.
