WATER DILUTED PAINT AND VARNISH COMPOSITION Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: production of protective coatings for metal surfaces being used for example, in automobile construction, in agricultural devices. SUBSTANCE: water diluted composition comprises, w.p.: alkyd resin, 100; water diluted melamine-formaldehyde resin, 34-56; organic solvent, 64.0-79.0, pigments, 3.0-101.0; neutralizing agent, 1.2-11.2; antifrothing agent, 0.1-3.1. Acid number of mentioned above alkyd resin is 30-50 mg KOH/g; said resin is prepared by interaction of pentaerytritol, phthalic anhydride and synthetic fatty acids of C₇ - C₁₆ fractions at their mass ratio 1:0.6-0.65:1/1.4, the process is followed by treatment with adipic acid (its quantity being 0.35-0.45 moles). Proposed composition is used for production of coatings being hardened within 30 minutes at 120-160 C, drying is carried out without preliminary sustaining. Desired coating has high brilliance and high physical, mechanical and protective features. EFFECT: desired coatings are low toxic and incombustible; improved ecologic features of desired paint and varnish materials.
