BREAKING LIQUID AND METHOD FOR ITS PRODUCTION Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: production of breaking liquids. SUBSTANCE: breaking liquid comprises, %: esters of boric acid and monomethyl ethers of di-, tri-, tetra-, penta-, hexa-, hepta- and octaethylene glycol, 40-58; antioxidant additive, 0.05-0.20; polyethylene base, the balance. Said polyethylene glycol base comprises, %: monomethyl ethers of diethylene glycol, 1-5; monomethyl ethers of triethylene glycol, 7.5-25.0; monomethyl ethers of tetraethylene glycol, 7.5-25.0; monomethyl ether of pentaethylene glycol, 5-18; monomethyl ethers of hexa-, hepta- and octaethylene glycol, 0.5-2.5. Proposed liquid also may comprise peptizing agent (its quantity being not more 5 %) and antifrothing additive (its quantity being not more 0.005%). Breaking liquid is prepared by oxyethylation of methyl alcohol and/or by mixture of monomethyl ethers of mono-, di- and triethylene glycol. The process is carried out in the presence of alkaline agent till product having molecular weight 140-165 is prepared. The process is followed by treatment thus obtained product with boric acid (its quantity being 3-5 %), by distillation of low boiling components till residual amount of monomethyl ethers of diethylene glycol is 1-5 % and by adding additives.
