FIELD: petroleum processing and petrochemistry. SUBSTANCE: method includes separately precipitating sodium aluminate with acid at ambient temperature and at boiling followed by mixing prepared aluminium hydroxide modifications at "cold" to "hot" modification weight ratio from 3:1 to 1:2, washing, shaping aluminium hydroxide or/and alumina powder prepared from it with addition of 0.5-12% kaolin. Material is then dried, calcined, and coated with nickel or cobalt and molybdenum by means of impregnation with solution of compounds of these metals. Thus prepared catalyst is ultimately dried and calcined at 330-420 C. EFFECT: increased desulfurizing and denitrogenating activity and strength of catalyst. 3 cl, 4 tbl
