FIELD: precious metals production. SUBSTANCE: invention is related to hydrometallurgy of platinum metals from various-type secondary materials on mineral basis: exhausted catalysts (including automobile exhausted converters), radioelectronics waste, etc. In a method of recovering platinum metals from secondary materials including oxidative leaching with hydrochloric acid containing oxidizing agent, settling, and/or filtration, sorption of platinum metals when passing obtained solution through sorbent, water washing of filtration and/or settling solid phase, returning washing water into sorption stage, and isolation of platinum metal concentrate, aforementioned sorption is conducted by way of passing solution through sorption cartridges made of nonwoven fibrous material on the basis of porous polyacrylonitrile with added complexing polymer sorbents including heterocyclic amine groups. Concentrate is isolated via desorption of platinum metals from sorption cartridges with thiourea solution, neutralization of desorbate with alkali solution to pH 11.0-11.5 resulting in spontaneous precipitation of platinum metal sulfides, and preparation of dry concentrate using filtration procedure, whereas filtration water is returning into sorption stage.
