FIELD: marine mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: method includes preparation of electrolyte, multistep purification (first chemical and electrochemical) of electrolyte, processing thereof with stepped cathode until bright coatings are formed, adjusting pH of electrolyte, and applying nickel coating from electrolyte containing (in g/l): nickel sulfate, 250-300; sodium chloride, 10-15; boric acid, 25-40; saccharine, 0.7-1.1; and 1,4-butanediol (35% solution), 0.3-0.7 ml/l. The process is performed at pH 4.5-5 with hot- rolled anodes at proportion of anode to cathode surface areas 2:1 using continuous agitation of electrolyte with compressed air. Process is accompanied with periodical filtration, selective purification, control, and adjustment of electrolyte. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of process. 1 tbl
