FIELD: agriculture, in particular, selection of millet for smut-resistance. SUBSTANCE: method involves treating millet seeds with smut spores; introducing smut spores into soil to seeding depth at rate of 3-6 mg of smut spores per 1 cub cm of soil; providing seeding and germination of smutty seeds till appearance of young crop at conditions providing stage duration of 9-13 days. Soil temperature is maintained within the range of 12.5-15.6 C and soil moisture content within the range of 20.4-27.0%. Further growing of millet is conducted under normal conditions.
