FIELD: woodworking industry. SUBSTANCE: planing of veneer from wood having large core pitches by changing the direction of planing relative to the core pitches in such a way so as to avoid areas in which the veneer has a non-qualitative surface, by arranging the cutting edges of blades in planes the minimum angle between which equals 84 deg, which enhanced the yield of high-quality veneer. It is attained by the fact that production of sliced veneer is effected by formation of two faces on the log the minimum angle between which equals 84 deg; and veneer sheets are cut off during the working stroke on two faces; cutting-off in the transverse direction is accomplished on the timber blank from the center to the periphery, and on the cut having the shape of a sector - in the reverse direction; the blades on the carriage are installed in such a way that their cutting edges are arranged in two planes parallel to the blank faces, with the angle forward or backward relative to the working stroke. EFFECT: facilitated procedure. 2 cl, 3 dwg
