FIELD: organic chemistry; petroleum chemistry. SUBSTANCE: proposed catalyst comprises platinum applied onto carrier made of silicon dioxide/aluminium trioxide. Latter is produced from precursor amorphous silicon dioxide/aluminium trioxide material having pore volume of at least 1.0 ml/g. Carrier is impregnated with platinum by bringing carrier in contact with platinum salt in presence of liquid in acid medium. Method for producing said catalyst comprises step of preparing carrier from precursor amorphous silicon dioxide/aluminium trioxide having pore volume of at least 1.0 ml/g, followed of liquid in acid medium conditions. Proposed catalyst finds general acceptance in hydroconversion processes, but it is particularly reactive and selective in production of gas oil by hydroconversion of hydrocarbons obtained by Fisher-Tropsch process.
