FIELD: chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: carrier for catalyst used in hydrocarbon synthesis is prepared by combined grinding of finely divided silica and water-soluble zirconium compound in the presence of water at the content of solid substances 28-47% by weight. At the process of grinding mixture pH is 8,7-9,5, which is maintained by organic base addition. Then pH is decreased up to 8,3 by addition of organic base. Prepared mixture is extruded adding surface-active agent to its, dried and fired. Silica is used in the form of silica gel, or precipitated silica, or pyrogenic silica, preferable with mean size particles 50 microns. Before use silica is washed with ammonium carbonate solution. Ammonium-zirconium carbonate is used as a water-soluble zirconium compound. Zirconium quantity is 8-15% by weight of silica quantity. To prepare catalyst obtained carrier is impregnated with active component, dried and fired. EFFECT: improved method of carrier and catalyst production. 13 cl, 2 tbl
