FIELD: chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: mixture is prepared from leucoxene concentrate and black carbon under partial pressure 0.3-1.2 atm. The obtained powder-like mixture has 55-98 wt.-% titanium carbonitride of the formula TiCxNy where: x = 0.15-0.64, y = 0.2-0.85 and 2-45 wt.-% SiC. Material does not contain free carbon impurity, its abrasive capability is 0.036-0.050 g. Material is used for making abrasives, fused mixtures, cutting tools.
