FIELD: groundwood pulp bleaching, particular, chlorine dioxide bleaching; applicable in wood-pulp and paper industry. SUBSTANCE: the offered method includes, at, least, one stage of bleaching of aqueous suspension of wood pulp with use of chlorine dioxide. In so doing, at least, one stage of bleaching is carried out in two steps. The first and the second steps of bleaching stage have different end values of pH. In this case, at the first step of bleaching stage, aqueous suspension of wood pulp is mixed with alkali used in the amount from 10 to 50% from total amount of chlorine dioxide for 5-40 min so that value of pH at the end of the first step amounts from 6.0 to 12.0, and at the second step, remaining amount of chlorine dioxide is added, and obtained mixture is mixed for two or more hours so that pH value at the end of the second step of bleaching stage amounts to 1.9-4.2. Conditions of steps of bleaching stages are offered. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 13 cl, 22 dwg, 7 tbl
