FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: transformer tap changer has load switch 1, preselector 4, and auxiliary switch 7. Distance between extreme contacts of load switch is greater than between any other adjacent contacts of same phase. Movable contact members of preselector and those of auxiliary switch are electrically interconnected and placed on separate coaxial operating shafts and their fixed contact members 5, 8 are mounted on common base (cylinder); all contact members of three phases of preselector are arranged on same plane and those of auxiliary switch, on other plane; preselector fixed contacts are connected to extreme contact members 2 of load switch and those of auxiliary switch are electrically interconnected and connected to neutral wire lead of load switch.
