FIELD: surgery. SUBSTANCE: ascitic fluid is drained out in single flash operation in full volume, followed by sorbing fluid, lyophilizing it and dissolving before re-infusion in such manner that two liters of resulting fluid would correspond to eight liters of ascitic fluid, remaining fluid being re-infused portion-wise every other day. EFFECT: effective approach to treatment of ascites cases complicated with hepatic insufficiency. 1 tbl
