FIELD: paint and varnish production, production of pigment paste having metallic effect. SUBSTANCE: aluminium powder or its mixture with toning pigment is dispersed in 2-5 % aqueous solution of oligoester on the base of dimethyl terephthalate, pentaerytritol and phthalic anhydride (their molar ratio being 2:3:1-5, respectively) or oligoester on the base of pentaerytritol and phthalic anhydride (their molar ratio being 3:3-7, respectively). Quantity of said oligoester is 5-30 % of mass of aluminium pigment. After filtration product is blended by displacement of water together with varnish. Then dilution by additional amount of varnish or peptizing agent is carried out till content of aluminium pigment in paste is 6-15 mass %. EFFECT: improved quality of desired product. 1 tbl
