FIELD: production of knitted articles. SUBSTANCE: method involves initiating accomplishment of sock knitting on remaining open side of tip; drawing off plate; raising knitting needles 2 with closed sinkers; further raising needles 2 with opened sinkers till stitches 4 are arranged at the level above nose 30 of sinkers 3; removing and holding stitches 4; lowering needles 2; transferring sock away for predetermined distance from knitting head of machine; turning sock inside out; transferring stitches 4 of first semirow to respective stitches 4 of second semirow; arranging stitches of first and second semirows along path defined by arc of circle with regular angular distance, with space being preliminarily set in accordance with required linking precision; linking pairs of stitches 4 arranged in mentioned way and making at least one closing knot; cutting off linking thread; turning sock inside out and discharging it.
