FIELD: irradiation of large-size objects, such as logs or wood items packed in briquettes. SUBSTANCE: unit has working chamber 1 with long flat radiation source 2, biologic shield 3 with radiation traps 4. Transport line 5 conveying objects to be irradiated to and from working chamber over narrow-gage railway or overhead monorail is made in the form of coupled closed loop with region 6 of grade-crossing elimination structure arranged on two levels. Objects to be irradiated are passed twice in parallel to radiation source 2 and in immediate proximity of the latter over inner and outer sections of contour; radiation source 2 acts on opposite sides of object. Working chamber 1 is arranged below level of charging-discharge region 9, 10 better buried in or banked up with earth. EFFECT: improved environmental safety and output capacity. 7 cl, 2 dwg
