FIELD: chemical technology, inorganic chemistry. SUBSTANCE: method involves sorption of iodide ions at a single ionite loading and sorption of elemental bromine at other ionite loading. Part of ionite loading saturated with elemental bromine is fed to iodide ions and after iodine desorption and regeneration material is recovered to bromine sorption. Invention can be used for extraction of halides from natural and technogenic solutions containing iodide, bromide and chloride ions. EFFECT: increased dynamic exchange capacity of ionite by iodine. 1 tbl
