FIELD: hydrometallurgy; may be used in purification of acid solutions of various compositions from iron ions and in conduction of processes where oxidation of iron plays important role. SUBSTANCE: method involves treatment of solutions with oxygen-containing gas in the presence of activated or complex ionites with solution pH maintained within the value corresponding to beginning of precipitation of ferric hydroxide from solution with concentration of iron ions equivalent to total concentration of ions of iron and iron in initial solutions.
